Glycolic acid Peel (Gly Derm®)

What is glycolic acid?

It all begins with alpha hydroxies - a group of fruit extracts used since ancient times to beautify the skin. Glycolic acid is derived from sugar cane and has more beautifying effects on the skin than any other fruit acid. Glycolic acids help the skin retain more moisture, make it smoother, healthier, and younger-looking.

The Gly Derm® Facial

Your facial is applied for one to three minutes and rinsed off with cool water. The only sensation you may feel is a slight tingling for only a few minutes. It should look better and feel softer almost immediately after your first facial. For the best results, we generally recommend a series of six facials at weekly or bi-weekly intervals, followed by a monthly maintenance facial.

Salicylic Acid Peel

Special Salicylic Acid Benefits

Salicylic acid removes dead, dull cells off the surface of your skin. The procedure stimulates a "burst of renewal" within your skin to bring healthy, young, living cells to the surface. Salicylic acid is also able to penetrate skin follicles - making it a well suited chemical peel for conditions such as acne, rosacea, and enlarged pores.

Visible results:
  • Fine lines and wrinkles become less apparent
  • Skin tone evens out
  • Texture becomes more refined
  • Oily or acne-prone skin is improved
  • Enlarged pores appear smaller
  • Skin appears healthier and more youthful

What to expect

Salicylic acid is applied to your skin for four minutes and you will feel a slight stinging as a transluscent mask begins to appear. Within two to three minutes, this sensation peaks, then rapidly diminishes to nearly zero.

No “downtime”

With Salicylic acid there is no downtime. Your skin immediately looks and feels smoother and tighter. Your face may temporarily appear a bit rosy. In a day or two your face may begin peeling. The degree of peeling can vary from invisible, to mild, to noticeable peeling and flaking.

Why Salicylic acid is better?

It is a superb peel for acne and acne prone skin because of its ability to penetrate where acne starts.

Obagi® Blue Peel

What is the Obagi® Blue Peel?

The Obagi® Blue Peel is an in-office procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin. Using a low concentration of the chemical trichloroacetic acid (TCA), mixed with a special blue base to slow penetration, the Obagi® Blue Peel removes the thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin from the face or other parts of the body. These dead skin cells are replaced by healthier ones, allowing the skin's own clarity and tightness to resurface.

What is unique about the Obagi® Blue Peel?

Unlike alpha hydroxy peels or other superficial procedures, the Obagi® Blue Peel allows Dr. Gordon to control the depth of the peel and the number of coats applied in order to tailor the process to your skin's specific needs. The Obagi® Blue Peel can even be performed on the neck, chest, hands, back, arms, and legs. It is particularly effective for people with blotchy pigment and moderate sun damaged skin.

How long is the recovery period?

After the procedure, you will experience light swelling, and your skin will begin to peel within two to three days. This peeling will continue over the next several days and should be healed in an average of seven to ten days. If you are having a lighter, exfoliative Obagi® Blue Peel, healing is completed in three to six days.

How can I maintain the benefits of the Obagi® Blue Peel?

Keeping your skin's new healthy glow and youthful appearance is an ongoing process. The Obagi® Nu-Derm Restoration System is an at-home program designed to promote long-term overall skin health and works effectively in conjunction with the Obagi® Blue Peel.
